📜 Sending crypto into an app
Most Unifold-powered apps let you fund an account by sending tokens from wherever they already sit: a self-custodial wallet, a custodial exchange, or another on-chain address. This guide covers that deposit-address flow.
If the app offers a connected wallet or checkout instead, you can use those paths too. The destination is the same: funds arrive in the token and network the product needs.
What this flow does
You pick the asset and network you already hold. Unifold issues a deposit address for that combination. After you send a supported token to that address, routing converts and delivers it to the destination the app configured. That destination is often a different token or chain.
You do not need to bridge or swap beforehand. Unsupported combinations will not convert automatically, so always match the token and network shown in the widget.
How to send a deposit
- Open the deposit or checkout panel inside the app and choose the option to send crypto from a wallet or exchange.
- Select the token and network that match the funds you are about to send. Changing this pair can change the address.
- Copy the address or scan the QR code. Paste it as the recipient on your exchange withdrawal screen or in your wallet.
- Enter an amount above the minimum shown in the widget. Transfers below that floor stay unprocessed until they are topped up.
- Compare the pasted recipient with the address on screen before you confirm. Treat any unexpected change as a warning.
- Submit the withdrawal or on-chain send, then keep the widget open. Status updates appear there as the transfer is seen, routed, and credited.
The expandable details at the bottom of the widget estimate conversion impact, timing, and slippage. Those figures are estimates, not a locked quote, because the exact send size is not known until your transaction lands.
What you can send
Coverage depends on the app, but typical inputs include major stablecoins and native assets across Ethereum, common L2s, Solana, and Bitcoin. The dropdown in the widget is the source of truth for the session you are in.
Send only the token-and-network pair displayed. A USDC transfer on the wrong chain, or an unsupported ticker to a valid-looking address, can be unrecoverable.
Common questions
What will this cost?
Deposit-address transfers are quoteless. Until the inbound transaction confirms, Unifold cannot know the exact size, so it cannot lock a receive amount after fees. Open the widget details for estimated price impact and slippage. Network gas on the chain you send from is paid separately by your wallet or exchange.
See How fees are calculated for a fuller breakdown.
Are there size limits?
Minimums exist so routing can cover gas and complete successfully. They are shown in the widget and typically sit in the low single-digit USD range on L2s and Solana, a bit higher on Ethereum, and higher on Bitcoin.
Unifold does not impose an upper cap on this flow. Centralized exchanges often do, so check their withdrawal limits if you are sending from one.
How long until the balance updates?
After your exchange or wallet shows the send as complete, most deposits credit in about a minute. Larger transfers can take longer (up to around half an hour) because routing may split size to limit slippage.
If nothing has landed after 30 minutes, follow Finding your deposit and then Contact Unifold.
Should I save the address for later?
We recommend generating a fresh address in the same app session instead of reusing an old one. Addresses can be specific to a token, network, and destination. Always compare what you paste against what the current widget shows.
I sent an unsupported token
Follow Sent the wrong asset. Open a request through Contact Unifold and include the transaction hash. Recovery is not guaranteed.
Need a hand?
If a deposit is missing or looks stuck, start with Finding your deposit. If that does not clear it up, reach the team.
Still need a person?
If this guide did not clear it up, send the team a request with your transaction details.
