💰 How fees are calculated
Unifold can take a source asset on one network and deliver a different asset on another. That path can include gas, conversion, and (when you use an exchange or fiat partner) their processing costs. This page explains the pieces, not a single flat rate.
Unifold is a software layer. Network fees and third-party protocol fees are set by those networks and partners, not as a hidden Unifold markup on top of a published price.
What the spread covers
The difference between what you send and what arrives typically pays for some mix of the following:
| Component | What it covers | Taken from |
|---|---|---|
| Source-network gas | Broadcasting your send to the deposit address or pool | The native gas token on the chain you send from (ETH, SOL, and similar) |
| Routing / conversion | Swaps, bridges, and contract execution needed to reach the destination asset | Your source asset |
| Liquidity | Inventory and inventory-risk costs for holding assets used in the route | Your source asset |
| Exchange connector | Partner and exchange withdrawal costs when you pull from a linked exchange | Your source asset |
| Fiat on-ramp (if shown) | Partner KYC/AML, card or bank processing, and related gas when a fiat method is offered | The fiat rail you chose |
Not every transfer includes every row. A same-asset deposit on the destination chain is cheaper than a cross-chain conversion.
Where you can see a quote
When you pay from a connected wallet, a linked exchange, or a checkout amount you typed, the quote screen includes a transaction breakdown before you confirm.
Wallet checkouts usually call out source-network gas as its own line.
Deposit-address sends are different. Because Unifold does not know the size until your transaction confirms, it cannot show a precise receive amount up front. Use the expandable estimates in the widget, or run a similar size through wallet or exchange checkout if you want a closer preview.
What Unifold does not control
- Gas on the chain you send from
- Withdrawal fees charged by your exchange
- Slippage that appears when the market moves between quote and execution
- Partner fees on a fiat rail, when that rail is available in the app
Terms of Use describe this in legal language: you are responsible for network fees, third-party protocol fees, and liquidity or validator costs.
